Concept
Located in the vicinity of the lake in Herastrau Park, Tuya restaurant project proposes a local hub that, beyond its destination, is conceived as an extension of the natural surroundings through an interior sensory construct. The architectural expression revolves around a space of the senses, where brass, wood, velvet, and light translate pairs of taste contrasts into juxtapositions of contrasting materials. Elevated from the level of the front courtyard, the entrance anticipates the vibrant nature of the restaurant area ambiance, offering a transition space where reflection and light are amplified through surfaces of uniform chromatics. The path to the serving area is guided by a series of mirrors, leading to a space where the laws of physics seem to be immersed in color, light, and reflection.
Light animates textures and profiles fluid forms, detached from a surrealist tableau. The two major, visual, and structural elements of the project, the pillars designed as brass "trees," support the major formal dynamics of the space, through the movements of the metal elements that dress them. This dissolves the differences between the upper and lower planes through the expansion of the bands over the entire ceiling surface. Around them, the crown of the lighting fixtures accentuates the radial poetics of these major spatial indices.
The design of the V-shaped solid wood elements takes over and simplifies the ascending movement of the pillars' dressing. Adding a warm note to the serving area ambiance, they remain closer to eye level, becoming a familiar landmark in a spectacular setting. In the second plane of the wooden silhouettes, luminescent surfaces designed from U-glass are prefigured, thus giving them shape through light.
Tuya constitutes a space where a unique cuisine and matching services are united in a project where glamour merges with art, and brass meets velvet. The concept revolves around a spatial and sensory experience specific to a completely different world. Strong colors and the sensitivity of lighting and texture scenography elongate the spatial journey towards a transcendence of the senses controlled in the smallest detail, from architectural elements to furniture. Thus, it surpasses the coarse limits of a building, which by destination has at its core the complex sensory object of taste itself.
